Antenatal Care

Routine antenatal check-ups by our qualified midwife.

Asthma

Regular check-ups and advice from practice nurses on lifestyle, inhaler techniques and medication. Appointment times are throughout the practice nurse clinics.

Child Health Monitoring

Regular developmental review appointments for all children under 5, including routine childhood vaccinations.  By appointment only.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

We try to ensure that you are getting the best treatment and to do this you may be asked to have a simple test, carried out at surgery, called a Spirometry.  The practice nurse will discuss your medication and any changes that may be needed. Appointment times are throughout the practice nurse clinics.

Coronary Heart Disease

If you have angina of have had a heart attack in the past we will invite you to a yearly appointment with the practice nurse wo will carry out simple checks and discuss your condition and ways in which you can stabilise and/or improve your condition. Appointment times are throughout the practice nurse clinics.

Diabetes

We aim to help you achieve good control of your diabetes and help minimise or prevent the complications that can arise by inviting you to regular check ups with the Practice Nurse. Appointment times are throughout the practice nurse clinics.

Family Planning

Advice on contraception including coil fitting.

Minor Surgery

You must be seen and assessed by the GPs prior to the operation appointment being made to ensure that the procedure can be carried out in surgery. This is appointment only.

NHS Health Check

Free NHS Health Check for everyone aged 40-74.  Helping you prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. With a healthcare assistant.

Older Persons Assessment

We like to see our patients who are aged 75 and over regularly, just to make sure that they are fit and well and to discuss any problems they might be having.  We also like to discuss their medication. Appointment times are throughout the practice nurse clinics.

Stop Smoking

We can help you Quit! We can also refer you to Derbyshire County Stop Smoking Service. Appointment times are throughout the practice nurse clinics.

Travel Information

The practice nurses can advise you with regard your health and your travel requirements including any recommended immunisations.

Complete a simple questionnaire about your destination and length of stay, ring the surgery a week or so later and we will be able to make you an appointment for the appropriate vaccinations.

If you are travelling abroad please make sure you contact us in plenty of time to arrange any vaccinations that may be necessary. To help the Travel Nurses assess your travel needs it is important that they are in receipt of the Travel Risk assessment form before your appointment.

Vaccinations

Routine and travel vaccinations for all ages are available during surgery times by appointment with our nurses.

Flu Vaccinations

Each year we vaccinate around 1200 patients with the Influenza Vaccine. If you are in one of the at risk groups i.e. aged under 4 or over 65, aged under 65 with a long term condition only – COPD, asthma, heart disease, kidney problems, liver problems, stroke, diabetes or immuno suppressed patients, are a carer or pregnant (this list is not exhaustive and if you think you may qualify, please contact the surgery to discuss), please contact the surgery on 01246 851029.

Well Person

This is an opportunity for both men and women to receive a detailed health check helping to promote and maintain good health including cervical smear screening, blood pressure monitoring, family planning, advice on weight management, smoking cessation etc. Appointment times are throughout the practice nurse clinics.
